My Story

I am immensely proud of what I have achieved in writing my story. I wouldn't wish what happened to me on anyone. I was racially abused at work and when I found the courage to complain about it, I was punished, then the bullying and unequal treatment became relentless. There were days I thought I wouldn't make it.

Writing 'Almost British' wasn't an easy thing to do, but it was necessary to expose insidious racism in the Civil Service. I hope my story helps those who are suffering and encourages others to speak up. The more we shine a light on the injustices, the harder it will be for them to deny us equality!
